Worldskills Singapore 2006: The Journey
Friends,School,Thoughts | 3:59 pm

God loves me, I tell you why.

He let me embark on this long journey. The journey, in search of friendship, love and knowledge. The once in a lifetime experience, something that I would never want to forget, never.

I was presented with a 2 pages paper when I cleared the first Internal Selection round.

“Here’s the tentative training schedule. I’m not sure how far you can go. But I hope that you’ll get into the Finals.”

The above mentioned paper is still lying in my file.

To my dearest mentor, Ms Jessica Poon: I’ve completed everything that was listed in that paper. That’s the furthest your dear old mentee could go. I’m sorry that I couldn’t get Gold. But believe me; I’m really contented with Silver. Thanks for constantly believing that I can do it. Thanks for the trust you always have in me. Thanks for always being there. And I think I owe you an apology. Sorry that I always appear ungrateful. I just haven’t learnt how to express my gratitude. Believe me, deep down I’m really very thankful for all the things you had done for me.

To my course director, Mr Daniel Liu: Thanks for the countless advices you had given me. Thanks for being so approachable. Thanks for the help not only for this competition, but also throughout my 3 years in the course of Engineering Informatics. You’re the best Course Director I could ever ask for, honestly.

To Ms Monica Tan: I’m not sure if you still remember me, but I definitely will never forget you. You were the one who got me into this Competition when I was in my 1st Year. Thanks for encouraging me to be part of it when I told you that I wasn’t interested back then. Thanks for the helpful CBTs that you took the trouble to burn for me.

To Ms Wong: Thanks for keeping me in your prayers during my competition days, the advices and encouragements. Thanks for that Milo treat many many months ago.

To my dearest friend, An Dien: Thanks for being my lunch buddy. Thanks for the Lemon Barley treat. Thanks for the useful advices and help, not only for this competition but also when I was at a loss preparing for my Distinction Presentation and the LKY Award interview. Thanks for the lesson on how inappropriate it is to associate believe with buts. I’ll bear that in mind forever. Thanks for listening to my whines. Thanks for being such a fun and crappy friend.

To our chief coach, Mr Jason Chung: Thanks for ferrying us around, be it for lunch or competition days. Sorry that I banged the door too hard once, or was it twice? Haha.

To all coaches: Thanks for passing on your knowledge to us unconditionally. Sorry that we always refuse to do most of the work.

To my 5 teammates: Thanks for the memories of the good old training days. May we enjoy the trip to Hong Kong this coming Wednesday. I hope we’ll still keep in contact after the trip.

To the Gold Medalist: I admit defeat. You’re good. I hope you’ll bring back another Gold medal from Japan. Keep in touch because we still want our souvenirs!

To my dearest commenters and friends: Thanks for the well wishes and blessings. Thanks for all the good luck that was showered all over me.

To those who still couldn’t figure out which position I’ve gotten: Read the entry again.

Thank God for giving me the best of everything. Be sure that I’ll learn to pass it on. :)

First of all, Love the new theme ♥ secondly, congratulations on the silver medal… Your posts always seem to be so hearfelt, and they always make me misty-eyed, so thank YOU for making me feel my feelings, even when I don’t think I can anymore

Reply: I actually cried while writing this entry. God’s great.

Congratulations for achieving gold, Lain! It’s so awesome that even in addition to the larger aspects of support, you still remember the gestures like Milo treats given to you. Perhaps a good memory does come into play, but I think it’s very appreciative to still remember such a gesture.

Reply: It was Silver that I’ve gotten. Hehe.

You reminds me of the Oscar speeches made by the actor/actress in the Academy Awards! Haha. Congrats. :)

Reply: Exactly. The only difference is, I didn’t get the chance to make a speech to thank those deserving ones. Or shall I say, I lack the courage to thank them personally.

Congrats that you’ve got into the top. :) Thought you didn’t get a gold (well, didn’t you wished for that in your previous post n now you wish came true). Anyway, I’m don’t really know how your competetion end product turned out, but i’m sure it was a pretty good product.
